More Cake
I made a Christmas cake for the Hospice and one for K's Da. Kitchen Compliments have some good cake decorations.Should be easy enough to make the stars with some card and toothpicks though. I got the miniature tree and parcels from the Dolls Store on Georges Street. They have everything you need to fit out your dolls house.
The first time....
Two of my great friends were getting married. I was so happy for them. I somehow decided it would be a great idea to make them their wedding cake, a Chocolate Biscuit Wedding Cake. I have no idea why. It may have been the countless glasses of celebratory wine. The next few months were filled with stress, chocolate biscuit cake and more stress. It turned out ok. The design was based on the wedding invite, by the very talented Sarah Brownlee. Top tip. Never put sugar paste in the fridge. It was a steep learning curve.
A Paper Dress
So my Friend J decided to have a bad taste themed party for her boyfriends 30th. The badder and bolder the better. There were some super costumes. Princess Diana, Gadaffi, Jordan, Amy Winehouseand the most hated Norweigian were in attendance. To add more celebration to the celebrations they anounced their engagement. And so it became a good taste party. I went as Rebecca Loos from the News of the World. The dress is made from old newspapers. Find the pattern at Instructables.com. It lasted really well into the night, well until the limbo dancing started anyway. The pattern comes with a puffy underskirt but I just threw on a mini on instead.
Sparkly cakes and lunch
This is from last years girly birthday christmassy lunch. I had sort of mastered the skill of icing cakes when I made the cake for K&D's wedding. I had a bit left over so made some miniature birthday cakes for the girls. I cheated though. The sparkly bits are not edible...but...I have found a new love. The Cake Decorating Company. they have EVERYTHING. I went a little crazy on line last night. Looking forward to my delivery of all things sparkly and edible.
Giving the gift ...of chocolate!
Lots of my friends were born in December. We meet every year for a Christmas/ Birthday lunch. At least we have an excuse.I couldn't sleep the night before so I got out of bed at 3'o clock in the morning and made lots and lots of chocolates. 14 boxes of chocolates. Lots of chocolate.
Almond and Orange Chocolates
After Eight Truffles
Sherry Truffles
Rum Truffles
White Chocolate Marzipan surprise.
Into some tins and boxes they went. Then I drew a little 'menu' and all the birthday presents were sorted.
The next day we ate lunch in Pichets, followed by quite a few beverages in Grogans, our favourite haunt. What a perfect day.
Christmas Dinner
So we gathered for some Christmas cheer. Dinner for twelve. Everyone brought a dish..or crackers. I made some Chocolate Brownie Muffins with Lime and White Chocolate Mascarpone.
And then we went out..and danced..not quite till dawn.

And so it begins...
It's late a night and early in the New Year. I think a virtual scrap book is a good idea. And so it begins....
